Better late than Never

It's been a while, but the best thing to do is just jump right in!

16 months

My little baby girl has grown into a full blown toddler!  Here are her 16 month stats

Weight 21/22 lbs- Her last appointment she was 21lbs14oz- 25th percentile
Height: 23inches-I think, we have misplaced her "fact sheet"  but she was in the 75the percentile.

She has 9 teeth with 2 more molars on the way (yes at the same time, she was actually working on 3 molars at once, one is now in and other 2 are causing all sorts of problems!)  She loves to have her teeth brushed.  No matter where we are in the house, we can ask her if she wants to brush teeth, she'll stop what she's doing and start off towards the bathroom.  It's the cutest thing.

She is just now starting to get into walking.  She'll walk across the room and after a ball or toy.  She actually does much better with balance if she is holding something.  It's kinda like those highwire artist and the balance bar!  If she happens to fall while walking, she will just start to crawl unless you prompt her to get back up and walk.

She is eating up a storm!  Luckily so far, knock on wood, we haven't had any food issues.  She loves, loves loves green beans and any type of fruit.  She will always try any food we give her.  She may not like it, but she'll always take that first bite!  The few times she has turned away, her tummy has been hurting, or her gums are real sore, or she's full and doesn't want to eat any more!  Her favorite foods are:

Green beans
Peaches
Pinapples
Mandarin oranges
Pears
Apples
Banannas
Yogurt and Yogurt melts
Chicken
Refried beans
Ground beef/hamburger
Ham sandwiches
Sweet Potatoes
Any dessert
And many more that I can't all think of at this moment!

She also loves milk, water and watered down apple juice.

Her receptive language is amazing! (well at least to me).  Parker understands, no, don't touch, that's not yours, shut the door (do you seem a common theme here...)  Pretty much anything we tell her she has some understanding of what we're saying.  Parker can also follow a few 2 step directions.  We've told her to "go get a item and then take it to a person", or when eating: "first take a bite of this food, then you can eat this food"  Or "once you finish this food, you can get down."

Her vocabulary is quite large and keeps growing every day.  Here's her list of words, that not only can she say but she also knows what the word is:

baby            juice                      quack
ball              keys                       read
bath             kick                       rock
bean             kitty or kitty cat    sheep
bear             mama                     shirt
belly             meow                    shoe
book            milk                       sleep
bow             mimi                       sock
bye              moo                       swing
car               mote (for remote)   teeth
chair             mouse                    toes
daddy           no                         trash
eye               out                        truck
foot              owl                       uh oh
hi                 please                   move
                                                     hot               pop (poppa)

I'm sure there are more that I am forgetting and we haven't written down.  Parker can also tell you what sounds an the followng animal makes when you ask her:  Dog, Cat, Cow, Sheep, Owl, and Duck.  Her Mimi and Poppa have also taught her to say "Argh" when they point to the ECU mascot, or ask her what a pirate says.

Parker has the best laugh and is just a joy to be around.  The past 16 months have a joy and a blessing, I can't wait for the next 16 months and to watch her grow!  The next post will full of Pictures of our growing girl!
